The Northern California Shoulder & Elbow Course
From Generalist to Specialist
The Northern California Shoulder and Elbow Course (NCSEC) was developed by orthopedic surgeons to provide current, effective and practical learning opportunities. Our driving goal is to bridge the gap between academic sub-specialist concepts and the everyday clinical dilemmas that face the general orthopedist.
Offering an alternative to the standard course format, participants will discuss theory in small, roundtable discussions rather than large group lectures. Those concepts are then put into practice during intensive cadaver workshops supervised by master instructors. Attendees leave the course armed with the latest in shoulder and elbow knowledge and surgical skills to advance their personal practice, enhance patient care and improve outcomes.
This year, the NCSEC focus will be on shoulder arthroplasty. Over the last decade, the frequency of shoulder arthroplasty implantation has risen dramatically, as have the emerging technologies and information surrounding its use.
We are fortunate to have gathered an outstanding expert faculty who have helped develop and refine some of these innovations.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from and discuss these concepts and controversies directly with faculty as well as perform primary and revision anatomic and reverse arthroplasty on cadaver specimens.
The Art of Shoulder Arthroplasty
The course is open to all orthopedic surgeons, fellows and senior residents (PGY 4-5) with an interest in shoulder and elbow surgery. Allied health, such as orthopedic physician assistants, nurse practitioners and therapists, are welcome to attend the didactic portion of the course.
